Admissions Requirements

Alabama State University welcomes beginning freshmen who are prepared to contribute to the University’s goals of academic excellence and those who want to work to become who they want to be. As a test-optional institution, you can decide whether to submit ACT/SAT scores with your college application.

 

Tier 1

Applicants who have earned a diploma from any high school or GED certificate and who meet the requirements in the sliding scale below will be fully admitted.

Tier I

2.00-2.49 18 / 940-970
2.50–2.99 17 / 900–930
3.00–3.49 16 / 860–890

 

Tier 2 & 3

Applicants who do not meet regular admission requirements may be admitted to ASU’s Tier II or Tier III Summer Bridge Program. This intensive six-week program is designed to assist incoming freshmen in building the foundation for a successful transition from high school to college.

  1. Complete FAFSA online (ASU School Code: 001005) beginning October 1
  2. Apply for on-campus housing
  3. Register for new student orientation
  4. Submit Health Evaluation Form
  5. Apply for ASU Scholarships October 1 – February 15
