Greetings:
On Friday, February 5, 2021, Alabama State University celebrated its 121st Founders’ Day Convocation for the first time in a virtual format.
Normally, this annual event is held in our Dunn-Oliver Acadome with our students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the community joining us in the celebration; however, the global pandemic caused the University to alter all campus activities and find new ways of assembling.
We could not let the pandemic keep us from holding this time-honored tradition of celebrating the founders and the legacy of this great institution. Every element of the event was pre-recorded with the goal of retaining as much of the traditional celebration as possible.
Our keynote address was given by Coach Woodrow “Woody” McCorvey, an ASU alumnus who has gained national notoriety as a noted college football coach. His speech is rich with information about the University’s history, as well as recent accomplishments and anecdotes.
Please take the time to share in this momentous occasion.
