Pink Strides is back! Wear your pink. Bring your friends and family and join us Friday, October 23, 2026, at 9 a.m. at ASU’s Joe L. Reed Dunn-Oliver Acadome for the 2nd Annual Pink Strides & Slides Breast Cancer Awareness Walk & Block Party—a powerful day dedicated to raising awareness, celebrating survivors, honoring loved ones and supporting individuals and families affected by breast cancer.
“The Pink Strides and Slides Walk is more than an event—it is a visible expression of hope, strength, sisterhood and the power of community,” said Dr. Tanjula Petty, vice president for Institutional Effectiveness, Strategic Initiatives and Transformation. “As a breast cancer survivor, I know personally that behind every pink ribbon is a real story—a woman, a family, a battle, a prayer and, for far too many, a memory. This walk reminds us that awareness must lead to action. If one woman is encouraged to schedule her mammogram, pay attention to a change in her body, advocate for herself, or simply know that she does not have to walk this journey alone, then every stride we take has purpose.”
Walk With Purpose. Celebrate With Heart.
The morning will kick off with a 1-Mile Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, bringing the ASU campus and surrounding communities together in a powerful show of support.
Following the walk, there will be a special Survivor Recognition Ceremony, honoring the strength, courage and resilience of breast cancer survivors and celebrating their inspirational journeys.
Participants keep the celebration going at ASU's Pink Strides Block Party. Enjoy a fun-filled morning featuring:
- Live performances and music
- Line dancing
- Local vendors
- Free giveaways
- Sweet treats and baked goods
- Fresh juices
- Breast cancer awareness resources
- Family-friendly activities
- Opportunities to connect with the ASU campus and surrounding community
Whether you’re walking in honor of a survivor, remembering a loved one, supporting someone currently facing breast cancer, or simply standing with the cause, Petty noted there’s a place for you at Pink Strides.
“We walk for those who are fighting, we celebrate those who have survived, we honor those we have lost, and we keep moving forward so that the next generation of women has an even greater chance to thrive,” emphasized Petty.
