- Talent Scholarships from the Department of Music:
- Music Major Scholarships (for Music or Music Education majors)
- Marching Band Scholarships (for Music majors or Non-Music majors)
- Wind Ensemble Scholarships (for Music majors or Non-Music majors)
- University Choir Scholarships (for Music majors or Non-Music majors)
- Academic Merit Scholarships (automatic awards)
- In-State Students

Who is eligible to receive a talent scholarship?
Talent scholarships from the Department of Music are available for incoming freshmen and to undergraduate transfer students and are competitive in nature.
To be considered for an award, students must:
- Be accepted and enroll at Alabama State University as a full-time student
- Demonstrate a high level of proficiency on their instrument or voice
- Hold a 3.0 minimum high school GPA or have ar least a 17 on the ACT or a 900 on the SAT. Transfer students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA from an accredited higher-education institution
- Complete a live, on-campus audition or submit an audition video prior to February 15th
Students who complete a scholarship audition will be evaluated in the following areas:
- Performance ability
- Sound quality
- Intonation
- Pitch/Rhythmic accuracy
- Phrasing
- Dynamics
- Academics:
- Cumulative High School GPA
- ACT/SAT composite scores
- Financial Need
- Completed FAFSA
- Estimated Family Contribution
Academic Merit Scholarships
Academic merit scholarships are available for both in-state students and out-of-state students and are automatic awards applied by the University at the time of admission, for outstanding high school GPA and test scores.
