At just 32, ASU alumna Lovely François is the new head of Haiti’s National Office of Pensions (ONA), one of the country’s major social security institutions. Her appointment marks a historic moment for the country’s public institutions. Her rise signals the arrival of a new generation of leadership rooted in merit, youth, and excellence.

A Summa Cum Laude graduate of Alabama State University, specializing in public accounting, François’s key focus areas in her new position include modernizing ONA through digital tools improving the working conditions of employees.

“This trust honors me, but above all, it obliges me to act with rigor, transparency and results in the exclusive service of Haitian contributors and retirees,” she stated in her inaugural speech.

 In her speech, she also noted that ONA is an institution unlike any other. “It is a pillar of social protection, a guarantor of workers’ dignity and a symbol of the social contract between the state and its citizens.”

 François’s higher education journey began in Haiti and led her to the United States. Her academic achievements are impressive, including top honors and awards that highlight her dedication and talent. She continues to deepen her expertise through advanced graduate studies in finance and accounting.

Professionally, François brings more than five years of experience across accounting, audit, and operations management.  Her tenure at Deloitte & Touche LLP provided her with exposure to complex financial audits and multidisciplinary team environments. Her involvement in financial literacy initiatives and her entrepreneurial ventures in Haiti have strengthened her leadership, operational, and strategic decision-making capabilities.
