Excitement is building at Alabama State University as registration for the 2026 Buzz Run 5K officially opens today, March 1, 2026. Runners, walkers, students, and families from near and far will come together on August 15 to celebrate health, community, and Hornet pride during this vibrant annual event.
The race starts bright and early at 7 a.m. at The ASU Stadium, Gate E, where the energy will buzz with anticipation. Participants will race through ASU’s campus and the charming Cloverdale neighborhood, enjoying scenic views and friendly cheers along the way. After the main event, the younger crowd — kids aged 4 to 12 — will take the spotlight in Stinger’s Fun Run, a lively 100-yard dash led by ASU’s beloved mascot Stinger, right on the football field at 8:30 a.m.
Every runner crossing the finish line will receive a special medal and a keepsake T-shirt, perfect reminders of a day filled with joy, togetherness, and healthy fun.
Amber Douglas, ASU’s brand and marketing director, sums it up perfectly: “This is more than a race; it’s a celebration of togetherness, health, and spirit. Everyone is welcome — lace up and join us.”
