On Thursday, April 9, 2026, Alabama State University (ASU) will open the doors to its brand-new Hornet Golf Clubhouse at 9 a.m. CST. Nestled near the Houston Markham Football Complex on ASU’s campus in Montgomery, this state-of-the-art facility marks a historic moment as one of the first on-campus golf clubhouses at any Historically Black College or University (HBCU).
University leaders, student-athletes, alumni, and community members will gather with excitement for the grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony, symbolizing a new chapter for ASU Athletics.
ASU President, Dr. Quinton T. Ross, Jr., spoke passionately about the vision behind this project.
“We will be among the first HBCUs to have a facility like this located on our campus,” said Ross. “What we are unveiling is the result of a collective vision by ASU’s leadership team to help us train and develop scholar golf-athletes and generate interest among student-golfers nationwide to join Hornet Nation.”
Vice President and Director of Athletics, Dr. Jason Cable, highlighted the clubhouse's unique role.
“Beyond athletics, the clubhouse supports ASU’s “CommUniversity” initiative, connecting students with the Montgomery community through shared events and activities. This grand opening celebrated not only a physical space but a new opportunity for growth, leadership, and community engagement at ASU.”
Guests will be able to tour the sleek new clubhouse—complete with advanced training areas and comfortable spaces for gathering.
