About Kamilah L. Long

Kamilah L. Long’s multifaceted theatre career includes acting, directing, producing, education, executive leadership, and fundraising. A world-class orator, Long has traveled as far as South Africa to speak and perform.

Her artistic journey began with a deep-seated passion for storytelling. This innate inclination toward weaving tales, whether through spoken word or dramatic interpretation, was the initial catalyst for a life dedicated to artistic expression that laid the foundation for a distinguished career in the performing arts.

While still pursuing an undergraduate degree in theater at the prestigious Alabama State University, long achieved a significant milestone: membership in the esteemed Actors’ Equity Association.  Further deepening her expertise and artistic repertoire, she pursued advanced studies at the University of Louisville, where she earned a Master of Fine Arts in Performance.

Before joining TCG, Long was the managing editor of Play On Shakespeare. Before that, she worked for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF), where she was awarded a producing fellowship. She rose through the ranks at OSF to become artistic assistant to the Senior Director of Development. Long also had a leadership role with the National Black Theatre. She is a member of the Board of Directors for Southern Oregon Public Television.
