Dr. Manoj Mishra

Alabama State University's Dr. Manoj Mishra, professor of Biology and director of the University's Cancer Biology Research and Training Program in the Department of Biological Sciences, has been appointed to the prestigious National Association of Immunologist Education Committee (AAI) for its 2025-2026 term. It is based in Rockville, Maryland.
"I am humbled and overjoyed to be named to this national program that works diligently to combat diseases, which plague the residents of our nation and the world," Mishra stated. "This will allow us to work together in this important area of science."
The appointment of Dr. Mishra and the other members was announced by Dr. Mary T. Lizinger, AAI's senior director of Science and Education.
"With the recent completion of this summer's AAI committee appointments, and as AAI staff liaison to this committee, I welcome Dr. Mishra and his fellow members to our committee and thank them for their volunteer service to AAI," Lizinger stated. "Dr. Mishra will be serving with Henrique Borges da Silva, Matthew Woolard, and trainee liaison Deborah Agbakwuru as well as this year's returning chair, Nick Pullen, our new vice chair (and continuing member) Viviana Ferreira. We thank each member for their enthusiasm in volunteering for this committee and we look forward to working with each one as we take advantage of their ideas and contributions."
Dr. Mishra received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India. After obtaining his Ph. D., he moved to United States.
At ASU, he is an associate professor of Biology and serves as the director for Cancer Biology Research and Training Program and Freshman Biology Program at ASU. Since February 2011, Dr. Mishra also holds an adjunct professor position in the Division of Molecular and Cellular Pathology within the Department of Pathology, School of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Alabama.
Mishra has been recognized as one of the Top 25 professors at HBCUs in the nation, and in 2015 he received the STEM faculty of the year award at Alabama State University.
