WVAS 90.7FM will proudly celebrate its 35th broadcasting anniversary on June 15, 2019 from 6-9 p.m. at the  Hardy Student Center ballroom.  You are cordially invited to rejoice with friends and families of our honorees, as well as the WVAS and ASU family, through your attendance at, or support of, this event .

As part of the occasion, WVAS will pay tribute to the legacy of two broadcasting legends: Dr. John F. Knight, Jr. and Roy Wood Sr.

Dr. John F. Knight, Jr. had the foresight and perseverance to make the idea of a public broadcasting station located on the campus of Alabama State University a reality.  Through his efforts, the “Voice of Alabama State University” was established and has achieved numerous awards and accolades.

Roy Wood Sr. was a broadcast legend unafraid to take on the ills and injustices of society.  His long-running program, “One Black Man’s Opinion”, was ahead of its time…revolutionary in content and unapologetic in its delivery.   Roy Wood Jr., the world-renowned comic and social commentator, will be on hand to pay tribute to his father.

Tickets are $35 and tables are $280. Sponsorships also are available for $3,500. Tickets are available at https://secure.qgiv.com/for/alastauni/event/802218/.
