Only a month after being elected President Pro-Tempore of the Alabama State University Board of Trustees, Delbert Madison has been tapped for another prestigious role. Madison was selected to serve on the board of directors of Leadership Alabama, a statewide organization that represents the “who’s-who” of established leaders in the state. He had also just graduated from its 12-month program.

Trustee Madison, who is the senior vice president and cash management officer at Montgomery's ServisFirst Bank, graduated as part of the 2022 Leadership Alabama Class in June and was almost immediately selected to serve on its board for a three-year term.

“Serving on the Leadership Alabama board gives me an opportunity to collaborate with some of the state’s top leaders to help seek solutions to some of the issues facing our region and our state. As a servant leader, I will be able to help to make an impact on communities throughout this state as we formulate ideas and make proposals that will help to uplift Alabama citizens in all walks of life. I am both challenged and humbled by this appointment,” said Madison.

More than 1,500 leaders in Alabama have participated in the Leadership Alabama program since its founding in 1990 with approximately 60 members per year graduating in a class. Its membership criteria is based upon such factors as leadership abilities, career accomplishments, volunteer activities, contributions to the community and a commitment to help shape a better Alabama. Leadership Alabama graduates form a very diverse group that varies by lifestyle, gender, sex, race, geographic domicile and political affiliation. The members share a common vision of what Alabama should be and can be with an influx of positive and strong leadership.

"We work to find a common understanding of the issues that confront our state; work to build a bridge to overcome the state’s problems and come together to lift up Alabama," said Madison. "Our mission states that 'Leadership Alabama was founded to provide the network necessary to activate those citizens to fill these leadership roles' and that is just what we do. Holding true to our mission helps Leadership Alabama to be a positive change-agent to help advance our state to greater heights both now and in the future."
