Student Well-Being

Keeping students healthy and safe are just two of our goals at Alabama State University. We know how important security and well-being are to the success of our students. That’s why we offer on-campus services like health care, counseling and law enforcement and public safety.

Health Care

If you’re sick or injured, the University Health Services Center and its staff are here to help you with well and sick visits, diagnostic tests, referrals, medicines and more. All you need to receive service is your student ID. Learn more:


We know that college and being away from home can be stressful, that’s why we offer a range of counseling and consultation services, from personal and crisis counseling to leadership training and more. Learn more:

Personal Safety

ASU is a very safe campus. Our campus and residence halls are supervised 24 hours a day, and our campus gates are locked between 6 p.m. and 5 a.m. We also offer an escort service for any student who must walk on campus at night alone. Learn more:

Staying Healthy

  • Take charge of your health during your years at ASU with the following tips:
  • Get at least 7 hours of sleep each night
  • Eat well
  • Avoid reckless behavior
  • Take advantage of the Health Services Center’s programs on staying healthy and preventing illness
  • Exercise
