An Alabama State University staffer will represent minority serving institutions on the National Diversity Abroad Network.

The nationally acclaimed Diversity Abroad Network in Global Education (Diversity Abroad) has chosen Alabama State University's director of the office of Diversity & International Affairs to serve on its task force.
ASU's Dr. Linwood Whitten will serve a one-year term as a Task Force Member with the Diversity Abroad Network, said Dr. Davida Haywood, vice president of Student Affairs at ASU.
"This is a notable first for the University to have one of our own serve on this prestigious board that works to advance access and diversity," said Haywood.
Whitten will serve in the thematic area for minority serving institutions, as the task force works to bring together global education and diversity professionals to provide critical guidance and support to the organization's multi-faceted initiatives. In addition to his role in overseeing diversity and inclusion at ASU, Whitten also oversees  the U. S. Department of State's F-1 and J-1 visa programs for foreign students.
"I am honored to serve and will work to contribute to the development of new and valuable resources in the field of global education," Whitten said.
