Run/Walk to Become ‘Buzz’ Hero to ASU Students
By Hazel Scott
Don’t miss the fun and excitement of Alabama State University’s inaugural Buzz Run 5K and Stinger's Fun Run (for kids 4-12) on Saturday, September 9, as part of ASU’s Military Appreciation weekend.
“This inaugural race will bring our community together with a focus on health and wellness,” said Shani Crayton, ASU's Brand and Marketing director.
No matter if you are a serious runner, novice or just want to walk the 5K course, the event is a fun-filled, health-promoting opportunity to support ASU’s Track and Field Team and the Department of Aerospace Studies.
“Participants of Stinger's fun run will also get a T-shirt and medal,” Crayton noted.
Runners and walkers are encouraged to wear their most extravagant Black and Gold outfit and their most outrageous hat for this event.
“You also can wear your regular running or walking apparel, or the event T-shirt given at registration,” Crayton added.
Don’t want to participate, but want to help ASU students? You can become a sponsor or make a donation.
Check-in will open at 6:30a.m. and the 5K run will start promptly at 7:30 a.m. Sign-in for Stinger's Fun Run, for kids 4-12, kicks off at 8 a.m. with the race starting at 9 a.m at the ASU Track and Field.
Entry fees are budget friendly. The 5K regular registration is $45 from July 31-September 1 and late registration is $50 from September 2-9. Stinger's Fun Run is $15. Group registration is also available; groups of 10 can register for $300.
All participants must sign a Risk and Health Waiver before participating in the run/walk.
