Rules and Guidelines

Parade officials have the right to deny participation in the Parade if entry guidelines are not met prior to and on the day of the Parade. The decision to deny participation is solely at the discretion of Parade officials.

General Rules:

  • No “live” Santa; only an inflatable Santa is allowed.
  • No bull horns will be allowed.
  • No parade participant will be allowed to have a loaded firearm at any time.
  • No smoking or alcoholic beverages will be allowed on any parade entry at any time before or during the parade.
  • Any entry utilizing a live animal should have a person assigned “pooper scooper” duties; or if using horses, they must be bagged. No exceptions.
  • All entrants must ensure appropriate safety precautions are taken to protect against injury of participants or spectators.

Float Rules:

  • Float height should not exceed 12 feet.
  • There should not be more than one foot of decorations beyond the float base.
  • There MUST BE an adult on floats where there are children.
  • No one will be allowed to get on or off a float or entry once it has started down the parade route.
  • Any entry utilizing a motor vehicle must have working tail lights.
  • Motorized entries should not produce excessive smoke or exhaust fumes.
  • All items on each entry should be firmly secured to prevent injuries to participants or spectators.
  • Floats should not have sharp edges.
  • All drivers are required to present a proper driver’s license and proof of insurance. No exceptions.
  • No participant will be allowed to move about the float during the parade.

Decorated Vehicle Rules:

  • Any entry utilizing a motor vehicle must have working tail lights.
  • Motorized entries should not produce excessive smoke or exhaust fumes.
  • All items on each entry should be firmly secured to prevent injuries to participants or spectators.
  • All drivers are required to present a proper driver’s license and proof of insurance. No exceptions.
  • Automobile clubs are not allowed to perform any type of stunts along the parade route – and only those in a riding club will be permitted.
  • Flatbed truck floats shall ensure the following:
    • Participants do not sit with feet hanging over the sides.
    • Participants do not sit with their backs to the edges unless sides are walled.
    • No more than 3-5 people standing on flatbed.
    • Handholds are in place for any standing riders.
    • No standing except toward the middle of the flatbed.
  • Pickup truck floats shall ensure participants on the float stand only if sides are walled to waist height and do not sit on walls, roof or hood of the truck.
