ASU's Day of Giving Marks University's 156th ‘Birthday’ Celebration
By Kenneth Mullinax/ASU
Alabama State University will celebrate its 156th “birthday” with a special "Day of Giving.” The event will be held virtually on July 18 (Tuesday), from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Members of the Hornet Nation Family, including alumni, friends and the general public may join in the festivities by making a donation online at www.alasu.edu/asu156
2023 "DAY OF GIVING"
University officials feel it is appropriate to give supporters the opportunity to show their love for ASU on the anniversary of the University’s humble beginnings in Marion, Alabama, when nine formerly enslaved men pooled their resources and those of the community to raise $500 to establish the Lincoln Normal School, which today is known as The Alabama State University. The vision of "The Marion Nine" has grown tremendously during the institution’s 156-year history and when one gives to ASU, especially on July 18, they help to advance the school’s continuing mission of providing excellence in higher education. It is widely agreed that no gift is too large or too small to give during ASU's Day of Giving.
ASU'S GLOBAL IMPACT
Alabama State University has produced thousands of graduates who continue to make an impact through their achievements nationally and globally. The Hornet Nation Family is proud of this institution’s laudable accomplishments over the years. From nationally recognized research by our students and professors, to high-demand allied health programs, competitive academic offerings, award-winning theatre programs and transformative CommUniversity initiatives, ASU has become one of the nation’s premier institutions of higher learning. The Day of Giving on July 18 is a great time for donors to express their love for "O’ Mother Dear" in a meaningful way.
