Maintaining your physical health and well being is an important part of achieving academic success in college. At Alabama State University, you don’t need to leave campus to find a great place to work out or keep up with your fitness routine. Our campus features a variety of facilities and intramural sports programs to help you stay in shape.

Norman Walton Aquatic Center
The Norman Walton Aquatic Center features an Olympic-length indoor pool and is open to students for free swim time and aquatic aerobics. The pool is open during spring and summer months and during the fall, as long as the weather permits.
Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center
The Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center is a 12-court, lighted complex with tournament capabilities. The Tennis Center is open year-round to ASU students, except during Hornets Tennis team matches or scheduled tournaments.
Beverly Hall Student Workout Facility
The student workout room in Beverly Hall is located near the Norman Walton Aquatic Center. The workout room is open to students from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and features a range of exercise equipment, including a treadmill, bicycle, ab machine and weight bench.
Track at Hornet Stadium
Located at Hornet Stadium, the practice field for Hornets football, the outdoor track is open to students for running or walking. The track is open until 8 p.m. on most days, except during closed football practices.
Located next to McGinty Apartments (the Honor Dorms), the volleyball net on the sandpit is open to students anytime for a friendly game of volleyball.
Lockhart Gymnasium houses most of the University’s intramural sports games. The full-sized basketball court is often open for recreational basketball or shootaround.
