Welcome to Operation Hornet Nation: New Student Orientation!

Operation Hornet Nation is an information-packed, one-day (8:00 am until 5:00 p.m.) orientation program designed to acquaint new students and their family with Alabama State University and assist you with making a smooth transition to college life.

Our Orientation at ASU is MANDATORY. It allows you and your parents to:

  • Engage with university leaders and faculty and learn about classroom expectations.

  • Register and/or confirm your course schedule.

  • Learn about student services and "life outside the classroom."

  • Meet members of our Student Orientation Services (SOS) Team and other ASU upperclassmen.

  • Become an official member of Hornet Nation!

Registration Information


The registration costs* for New Student Orientation are:

  • $75 for ASU Students

  • $30 for each parent or family member (2 guests only; if one of your guests is under the age of 12, they do not have to remit payment)

*PLEASE NOTE:  New student and parent registration covers program costs, printed materials, meals and ASU paraphernalia. ALL fees are non-refundable and there is NO On-Site Registration.


Operation Hornet Nation: New Student Orientation is reserved for students who have been officially accepted into Alabama State University. This means that you have an Alabama State University student identification number and an official date of acceptance. If you have not been fully admitted, then you will need to contact the Office of Admissions and Recruitment at 334-229-4291.
