Whether you are coming to ASU from thousands of miles away or from across town, whether you are a first-generation college student or you hail from a long line of college graduates, whether you're a little nervous about starting college or you're ready to dive in full throttle, our goal is to help you create a memorable, meaningful and enjoyable First and Second Year Experience.

Our Mission

The Office of First and Second Year Experience exists to support the transition of new students to Alabama State University. OFSYE will expose, engage and empower students by providing them with resources, services and activities to strengthen them academically, personally and socially, thus resulting in a successful collegiate experience and developing them as lifelong learners.

Our Goals

  • Encourage students to engage socially in activities and services provided on campus

  • Empower students with skills and abilities that enhance them academically

  • Expose students to information about campus resources and opportunities available

  • Assist new students in a successful transition and to promote academic success

  • Foster collaboration/partnership with various entities to enhance the FSYE
