The Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Alabama State University prepares accounting majors for life-long learning through not just teaching, but coaching students in the knowledge and skills required for the business world.

The Master of Accountancy program is designed to prepare graduates: (1) for professional careers in public accounting and management in industry and government; (2) to achieve professional certifications in accounting, such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA),  and Certified Management Accountant (CMA); and (3) to pursue terminal or PH.D. degrees.

Admissions Policy

A student applying for admission to the Master of Accountancy program must hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university. International students must hold the equivalent of a four-year degree form a regionally accredited U.S. institution. Specific admission criteria are as follows: Minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.75 minimum or graduate GPA of 3.25, minimum GMAT score of 400, minimum undergraduate accounting GPA of 2.75.

Teaching Experience

Our Master of Accountancy faculty provides both diverse and global instruction. Faculty members have more than one hundred years of teaching experience and more than 70 years of corporate and governmental experience, as well as community involvement.

Internships and Placement

All students will be exposed to internship opportunities with corporate and governmental entities. Our students are actively recruited by public, private and governmental agencies. Students are also recruited by top universities Ph.D. programs.

One-Year Program

The Master of Accountancy program (MAcc) is accelerated and globally focused. It is an advanced degree designed to prepare students to enter the professional environment both nationally and internationally. The MAcc program is offered in a one-year format with the advantage of offering evening classes to meet business professionals' schedules.
