Bachelor of Social Work
Get your Bachelor of Social Work degree from Alabama State University, and acquire the skills and preparation needed to begin your career as a professional practitioner and leader in service delivery to individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities in a variety of employment settings.
In addition to your academic courses, as a social work major, field education opportunities will provide you with the opportunity to engage in supervised social work activities and practice experiences in the application of practice principles, values and ethics of the profession, as well as theory and skills acquired in professional foundation courses in CSWE approved settings.
ASU’s Department of Social Work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) – the only accredited social work program in the Montgomery area.
Social Welfare Minor
The Department of Social Work offers the minor in social welfare, which equips students with a framework for analyzing present social welfare policy and programs and skill in formulating and advocating for alternative policies.
