Boots to Business targets military members, their spouses

Who better to live the American dream of business ownership than those who have defended that dream through military service.
They can start that journey by attending Alabama State University Small Business Development Center’s "Boots to Business from Service to Startup" program on Oct. 7-8 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily at Maxwell Air Force Base, 55 South Mitchell St., Building 677. Attendees must possess personal military identification to access the base.
The two-day entrepreneurial education and training program is restricted to active duty, Reserve and National Guard members and their spouses. The program is offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as part of the Department of Defense’s Transition Assistance Program.
Participants will gain the skills and knowledge needed to launch a business, including key steps for developing business concepts and a business plan.
