ASU’s National Center to Host Virtual Forum on Social Justice

The National Center for the Study of Civil Rights and African American Culture at Alabama State University will host a virtual forum titled, “Social Justice: 21st Century Activism - When the Past Meets the Present” on October 2 at 11 a.m. The event will be streamed live on Facebook at www.facebook.com/civilrightscenter.

The intent of this forum is to provide a platform to engage social change agents in conversations on social justice issues. This forum will discuss the history of structural racism, analyze traditional and contemporary social justice strategies, and discuss future strategies for achieving Social Justice.

The guest panelists include:

  • Dr. Artika Tyner,  President & CEO, Planting People Growing Justice LLC/Author, The Leader's Journey, The Lawyer as Leader, Justice Makes a Difference, and Amazing Africa
  • Dr. Gregory Vincent, Executive Director of the Civil Rights and Education Initiative and Professor,  University of Kentucky
  • DeEtta Jones, Founder, DeEtta Jones and Associates
  • David Hammond, Jr., SGA President, Alabama State University
