School may be out for the summer, but the Montgomery Public School System (MPS) is still looking to hire for the coming school year.
To help MPS fill needed positions at five schools, Alabama State University will host a Job Fair, titled Preventing School Violence in Montgomery Public Schools (PSV-MPS), to fill several open positions -- security technician IVs and campus security guards. The job fair is taking place at ASU’s Dunn-Oliver Acadome on Wednesday, July 19, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“ASU’s Academic Affairs Department is targeting five schools in Montgomery --- Brewbaker Intermediate, Chisholm Elementary, Dozier Elementary, Dannelly Elementary and Highland Gardens Elementary -- though once they are hired by MPS, they may be assigned to other schools,” said Shauntae Smith, ASU (PSV-MPS) School Climate Coach.
While at the job fair, interested applicants can meet school officials and learn more about the school culture, make connections and even interview the same day for the selected positions.
Here are some things applicants should know:
--Must have a valid driver’s license and be at least 21 years old
-- Have a high school, technical school, GED and/or equivalent
--Previous security experience preferred
--Experience in law enforcement or youth relations highly desirable
The event will include a free giveaway.
