March is Women’s History Month and Alabama State University’s Lyceum Committee is celebrating the event by launching a series of virtual sessions to learn about female empowerment.

The Virtual Women’s Empowerment Conference titled “Wear Your C.R.O.W.N.” (Confidence, Respect, Optimism, Worth and Nobility) will be held at 9 a.m. (CST) March 8-12 on Zoom.

The month is set aside nationally to honor women’s contribution to history, culture and society in American history.

Kicking off the weeklong event is guest speaker Heidi McGowen, ASU alumna  and award-winning unit production manager and line producer of such popular TV shows as “Blackish” and “Insecure.”

The event also will include panel discussions and other speakers, including Azzie Taylor, Chief Deputy District Attorney in Montgomery, and Dr. Sheila Austin, Dean of the College of Education, Auburn University Montgomery.
