ASU Birthday Celebration Goes Virtual in the Midst of COVID-19

By Hazel Scott/ASU
July 18, 2021, marks the 154th birthday of Alabama State University. The weeklong celebration with the theme “Celebrating 154 Years: We Proudly Hail Thy Name” will be observed by the ASU family starting Sunday, July 11, through Sunday, July 18, 2021.
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has forced the University to shift from in-person activities to holding virtual events during this milestone occasion.
"While the pandemic limited the way in which we celebrate this year, it could not stop us from showing our love for O' Mother Dear on the occasion of the University's 154th birthday," said Audrey Parks, ASU's Coordinator of Annual Giving. "This 8-day celebration will allow Hornet Nation to honor Alabama State University in a variety of exciting ways."
All members of the ASU family—past, present and future—and friends of the University are invited to be part of this special celebration that has been 154 years in the making.
