Artwork Honoring Dr. King Exhibited @ Montgomery Airport by ASU Faculty & Others

A display of artwork that celebrates the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is being exhibited now and throughout all of Black History Month (Feb. 28) at the Montgomery Regional Airport. The exhibit is titled "Montgomery: Diverse City," and its a collection of works by faculty members of the Alabama State University College of Visual & Performing Arts and other local artists, according to Professor Nathaniel Allen, chair of ASU's Art Department.

The exhibition of art is all part of the Sixth Annual MLK Community Celebration, which is sponsored by the Friends of the ASU Theatre, Dr. Tommie Tonea Stewart, ASU's  College of Visual & Performing Arts, and Troy University. 

"The ASU Department of Visual Arts, in collaboration with the Friends of the ASU Theatre, have installed the art exhibition," Allen said. "The exhibition features works from ASU's art faculty and local area artists with all of the works celebrating the legacy of Dr. King. The art showcases a sampling of the diversity of artists working in and around Montgomery," Allen added.

ARTISTS EXHIBITING @ THE AIRPORT INCLUDE

Participating artists who are exhibiting at the Montgomery Regional Airport includes: Nathaniel Allen, Cleve Webber, Elana Hagler, Nystasha Kelly, Sydney Foster, Sunny Paulk,

Winfred Hawkins, DaNeal Eberly, Tori Nicole Jackson, Warren Simons and SaQuia Evans.

The works will be on display until Feb 28, with a closing reception to be announced.

ABOUT THE AIRPORT

The Montgomery Regional Airport is a civil-military airport that is seven miles southwest of Montgomery. Owned by the Montgomery Airport Authority, it is used for general and military aviation.
