Welcome to Hornet Nation!

WELCOME HORNETS - CLASS of 2021. Your decision to join Hornet Nation is sure to be an exciting time in your life — full of excellence, opportunities and innovation. The entire Alabama State University administration, faculty, staff, alumni, current student body and community supporters are elated to welcome you to your new family. With more than 1,000 new Hornets swarming onto our campus this week, it truly is a GREAT TIME TO BE A HORNET!

In an effort to provide you a seamless transition to Alabama State University, please adhere to the following reminders:

Check-in for New Student Orientation on Friday, August 11, begins at 8:30 a.m. in the Dunn-Oliver Acadome. This is for students who preregistered prior to August 7, 2017. Families who did not pre-register, will have to register onsite with the understanding that a class schedule and orientation packet will NOT be available to you until next week. All pre-registered Hornets will have personalized information available for them as a condition of their pre-registration status.

The New Student Orientation program will commence at 9 a.m. also in the Dunn-Oliver Acadome and will last until 3 p.m., when students can begin to move into their assigned residence halls. Move-in is only for those students who have a confirmed housing assignment, as no additional housing is available at this time.

Hornet Haul, set for Saturday, August 12, begins for new students who have completed New Student Orientation at a previous summer session. Move-in times for Saturday will be strictly enforced and are set as follows:

A-J    9 a.m. – 11 a.m.

K-R  11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

S-Z    1 p.m. – 3 p.m.

All students who have a housing assignment are required to complete their health clearance forms prior to move in. Please bring this information with you, if you have not already submitted the forms to the Health Office. If you have not completed the health clearance process, please see the representative from Student Heath for additional information.

Please bring your state-issued identification in order to have your official ASU student identification taken during orientation or welcome week. We encourage you to use your time wisely, but note that all university offices will be open on Monday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please be sure that you park in the General Parking Area and not in a reserved space to avoid towing and traffic delays. And as always, we ask for your patience as we prepare to welcome ASU’s greatest class ever!

“I feel extremely honored to be a part of the class of 2021 and to continue the legacy that my parents, Martin (’93) and Latrice Hogan (’90), set over 20 years ago. While my emotions are mixed, I know that it is a great time to be a Hornet.” Nijah Buck, ASU Freshman 2017
