The President’s Promise Scholarship

Out-of-State Scholarship
From the very beginning of his tenure as ASU’s President, Dr. Quinton T. Ross, Jr. promised to always work hard for the University’s students. To demonstrate his commitment to keeping that promise, he created a scholarship to help make ASU a more affordable option in the wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The President’s Promise is a Scholarship developed for out-of-state students to help assist with the cost of tuition during this time of uncertainty. The scholarship is open to both new and returning/continuing undergrad students seeking their first bachelor’s degree. Students can receive this award if they meet the following criteria below.
*No application needed.
Qualifying Criteria :
Must reside outside the State of Alabama (paying out-of-state tuition).
Must be enrolled full-time.
Must have a minimum 2.75 GPA.
Must maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA (for renewal).
*If students fall below the requirements to maintain the scholarship, there is no appeals process.*
Entering Freshmen who are awarded this scholarship can renew for up to 8 semesters (Fall/Spring), providing they remain eligible.
Entering Transfer students who are awarded this scholarship can renew for up to 6 semesters (Fall/Spring), providing they remain eligible.
Continuing students who receive this scholarship can renew for up to 6 semesters (Fall/Spring), providing they remain eligible. (Sophomore-6, Junior-4, Senior-2)
Additionally:
*Students should have a current FAFSA (financial aid) on file.
*Students who are already receiving institutional scholarships that cover tuition are not eligible for this scholarship.
*This scholarship is not designed to generate a refund.
The President’s Promise Scholarship is worth $4,164 per semester and will be applied to out-of-state tuition only. Students who receive the PP scholarship are still responsible for the cost not covered under this award. The University reserves the right to change or amend the scholarship policy at any time. All initial and continuing scholarship awards are contingent upon the availability of funds and students maintaining the required eligibility. This scholarship may be automatically renewed based on funding availability.
