Institutional Committees

If your research project involves the use of biological and chemical hazardous materials, carcinogens, human subjects, radioactive materials, recombinant DNA, or vertebrate animals, then the proposal must be reviewed by the appropriate institutional committee in order that such use is deemed compliant with federal and agency requirements. Compliance review is a critical.

ASU's Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) provides biosafety guidelines for using infectious agents and biological toxins. View IBC Guidelines.

For researchers using synthetics or analogues of naturally-occuring chemicals, non-infectious agents, or biological, please contact Dr. B. K. Robertson Biosafety Committee Chair (334) 229-4423 for further instructions.

The use of synthetics and analogues of naturally-occuring chemicals and non-infectious agents and biologicals requiring                                use of BSL-4 containment is prohibed on the ASU campus.

If using BSL-2 or BSL-3 containing, approval is required by the Biosafety Committee. If you have Adobe Acrobat Pro,                                 use this refillable form: Biosafety Application.
