Selection Criteria and Eligibility for MARC program at ASU
MARC U-STAR - Rising Juniors
- Minimum grade point average of 3.25 (out of 4.0) overall and 3.0 in science and math courses (transcripts included in application materials)
- Demonstrated interest in and potential to enter and complete graduate program leading to a STEM doctorate degree
- OASIS-3®Survey
- Three strong letters of recommendation from collegiate-level science professors
- Participation in the new MARC U-STAR fellows Summer Research Training Program at ASU (1st year MARC U-STAR fellows prior to initiation of Research Triangle continuous research project activities)
- Successful Pre-MARC-STAR scholars are given priority consideration for continuing through the MARC U-STAR training pipeline as MARC fellows
Pre-MARC-STAR – Freshmen/Sophomores
- ASU freshmen - Minimum high school GPA of 3.25 (out of 4.0) overall and in science and math courses and/or minimum ACT score of 24 (transcript and ACT reports confirmed through Office of Admissions and Recruitment). ASU sophomores – minimum college GPA of 3.25 out of 4.0 in science courses (transcripts included in application materials)
- Interest in biomedical sciences demonstrated by excellence in science classes, participation in high school summer research programs, science fairs awards, etc.
- Strong letters of recommendation from high school science teachers (freshmen) and college science professors (sophomores)
