Compliance Certification Committees

The Compliance Certification Committees are responsible for demonstrating adherence to standards and are grouped by content so that they may share information in a more efficient manner, and build a community of support. This format also ensures consistency in meeting the expectations of SACSCOC when interpreting criteria and defining adequacy as appropriate for Alabama State University. Teams are also responsible for review of policies, procedures, and academic programs to determine compliance, and to identify any potential areas of concerns with compliance, documentation issues, and needs for resolution. The seven working committees are comprised of a chair and co-chair to lead and guide members through the reaffirmation process. The university’s SACSCOC Accreditation Liaison will serve as an Ex Officio member on each committee.

The Mission, Governance and Administration Committee will be responsible for reviewing ASU’s mission statement and its translation into action; describe role and actions of governing board; describe evidence of CEO selection and evaluation process; review of staff evaluations; describe fundraising activities; review of athletics; and evidence of research and public service that aligns with the mission of Alabama State University. The committee will also focus on the Alabama Code and its role in the operation of the institution to ensure there are no gaps that could potentially demonstrate non-compliance.
