Cheryl Lang, (BSN RN, SANE)

Ms. Cheryl Lang, BSN RN, SANE with more than 40 years’ of experience in working with a myriad of populations in health care arenas. She has 9 years of experience in providing direct services to victims of sexual assault (SA), domestic violence (DV), dating violence and stalking.  She is currently the Violence Against Wo(men) Program Director for Alabama State University.  Her role is to provide campus oversight that enables ASU to fulfill the federal requirements of the Violence Against Women Act as it pertains to institutions of Higher Education. More specifically, she provides oversight for Sexual, Domestic, Dating and Stalking (SDDS) violence prevention and education training for students and employees, coordinates on and off campus services for students who are victims of such offenses, and identifies and provide SDDS training for campus Law Enforcement and Judicial Departments.


Her career services include, but are not limited to: forensic examinations, photographic documentation of injuries received in sexual, domestic and dating violence offenses, coordination of counseling referrals, coordination of advocacy services, consultation services for District Attorney’s in DV/SA casesand provision of educational training for Victim Advocates, Registered Nurses, Law Enforcements, and Military Sexual Assault Response Coordinators (SARCs). Her former relative positions include: Nurse Coordinator for the Alabama Crime Victims Compensation Commission, Sexual Assault Division; Director of Standing Together Against Rape (STAR) the local Rape Crisis Program that covers six counties. This position was responsible for training and managing all of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANES)  and organization and coordination of the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) in the service delivery area; and Director of Health Services, Alabama State University.   Ms. Lang also has 15 years’ experience as grant reviewer for the Department of Health and Human Services such as; CDC; HRSA; ACYF;  and for the federal Departments of Education, Justice and Defense. Ms. Lang also has a successful background in grant writing and grant management. Other experience included Head Nurse of Post Anesthesia Recovery and Charge Nurse for Intensive Care Units at former local Montgomery Hospital.
