IT'S ON!  Alabama State University President William H. Harris has announced that ASU and Tuskegee University have signed a contract that will allow the two teams to be matched against each other in this year's Turkey Day Classic football game.

The game will be played on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, at the New ASU Stadium, which currently is under construction.  It will be the grand opening of the stadium and the 89th meeting of the two schools in one of the oldest black college football rivalries in the country.

"The Alabama State University family is excited that the tradition between Tuskegee and Alabama State will be continued during this year's 2012 Turkey Day Classic," Harris said. "We look forward to the annual reunion between the institution and our students, alumni, family and friends. It will be an exciting day in the history of ASU, as we open the New ASU Stadium and we are elated that our first opponent will be none other than Tuskegee University."

ASU and TU first played each other in football in 1901. The first Turkey Day Classic was played in 1924 and was the first black college classic ever played.

The Turkey Day Classic continues to be a proud tradition, which also serves as ASU's homecoming. From the streets of downtown Montgomery, to the beloved grounds of "Mother Dear" - homecoming is an unforgettable experience for literally thousands of passionate participants and provides tangible benefits of nearly $2 million for the city of Montgomery.
