Alabama State University will recognize an outstanding group of alumni and University partners during the ASU Gala on Friday, July 14.

Alabama State University’s inaugural Advancement Awards will be presented during one of the University’s premier sesquicentennial celebration events.

The Advancement Awards are designed to recognize those individuals and organizations that have “gone beyond” in their support of ASU students, activities and programs.

“The Division of Institutional Advancement has a dedicated staff that works diligently to fulfill our goals on behalf of the University, but we cannot possibly be successful with the help of committed alumni and other partners who support, promote and champion our efforts,” said Zillah M. Fluker, ASU’s vice president of Institutional Advancement. “The Advancement Awards give us the opportunity recognize those individuals and organizations who have given exemplary support to the University. We hope their efforts will help to inspire others to dig a little deeper and go a little further in their support of ASU.”

The division of Institutional Advancement is responsible for all activities undertaken by the University to develop understanding, financial support and engagement among the University family (students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends).

“As we celebrate 150 years of academic excellence, we felt that it was appropriate also to celebrate some of the people who contribute to the University’s success on so many levels,” Fluker added.
