A scholarship is a form of gift assistance that does not need to be repaid. Alabama State University awards scholarships on a competitive basis to undergraduate students who enroll full time in any of its six colleges:

Each application is carefully reviewed and scholarships are competitively awarded based on outstanding academic achievement and standardized test scores (ACT or SAT). Admission applications are reviewed for scholarship consideration on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Alabama State University awards scholarships based on merit. Unless otherwise stated, academic scholarships cover tuition only. These scholarships are awarded to students earning their first degree.
In order to be considered for an academic scholarship applicants must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Typically, awards including grants and funds that do not have to be repaid are considered when applications are reviewed in order to avoid over-awarding any student. Federal regulations prohibit financial aid over-awarding.
IMPORTANT NOTE: In order to be considered for ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS, first-time freshmen and transfer students must apply for admission to the University.
