If you are unable to download the application, please email our office and provide your name and complete mailing address so that an application can be mailed to you.

Evaluation of Official Transcripts

Your official transcripts from all schools (high school and college) previously attended will need to be evaluated. Transcripts, if not in English, must be translated into English by an official translation service. Once the transcript has been translated, please forward to the following for evaluation:

Official Copy of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

The results of this test will be required if your native language is not English. A minimum acceptable score of 500 for the paper-based exam, 173 for the computer-based exam or 61 on the internet based exam is required. Also, the English language requirement will be met upon completion of Level 112 at an ELS Language Center.

Confidential Financial Statement

We’ll need a confidential financial statement (U.S. dollars), properly notarized, affirming your ability to fully meet the expected expenses of attending Alabama State University for the first year of study. International students pay out-of state tuition. The current undergraduate cost for two semesters is approximately $17,000.00 for students living on campus, which includes tuition, required fees, housing/meals, books and health insurance.

NOTE: International Students are not eligible for financial aid.

Health Center Evaluation Form

Complete the ASU Health Center evaluation form (.pdf).

Documents Must Be Notarized

Send copies of credentials properly notarized. Credentials not notarized will not be processed. All required documents listed above should be sent to this office after formal application has been made. All credentials submitted become the property of the university and will not be returned or forwarded.

Apply Early For Housing

If you desire to live in one of the dormitories, you should apply for on-campus housing as early as possible. The required deposit should accompany the application. Admission to the university does not imply nor guarantee you a place in university housing! Visit ASU website: click on Administration, then Student Affairs, then Housing, then Housing Documents.

Plan Ahead For University Vacation Periods

Vacation periods are scheduled throughout the calendar year. The university usually closes during such periods and students living on campus are expected to provide their own food and lodging during those periods which will require additional expenses.

Certificate of Eligibility (Form I-20)

If you are entering Alabama State University as an International Student, the Form I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility) will be issued only after all requirements have been met and you have been provided with a letter of admission. Learn more about fees associated with filing.

Be Sure to Check Your Email

Due to time zone differences, we will initially try to communicate with you via email. Therefore, we strongly suggest you regularly check the email account you have provided up for any updates or requests from our office.
