ASU students can find ways to get involved through a number of campus activities, from Greek organizations to professional groups to student spirit clubs. Kamela Kennedy is one ASU staff member who is dedicated to enhancing every student’s experience.

As the assistant coordinator of Student Activities, Kennedy helps students engage in a wide variety of student-run organizations, events and activities. She advises three non pan-Hellenic organizations, Empowering Mentors and the Up to Dawn Collegiate Program with St. Jude Hospital. She also coordinates the student leadership program, monitors advisers in student organizations and coordinates student involvement in community service  initiatives.

Kennedy, who has worked for ASU for 18 years, previously served as a district recruiter in ASU’s Admissions Office.

She said she truly enjoys working with students in her current position and takes a great deal of pride in the impact she has had on those students she has recruited to come to ASU.

“ASU is a great university,” Kennedy said. “I love ASU for its rich heritage, history and the various mentors I’ve met here who have played an influential role in my life.”

When Kennedy isn’t busy helping students stay involved on campus, she finds time to serve as a member of many social and professional organizations, including Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and Alpha Kappa Psi.

Kennedy received a B.A in speech communications from the University of Alabama and the M.Ed. and Ed.S. in counseling education from Alabama State University.
