B.I.S Application Process

BIS Application Process Checklist

1.  Contact a BIS advisor regarding your interest in the program.

Email your academic advisor and be sure to include the following:
Your Name
Your CWID
Your Current major
Your BIS concentration of interest (3 minors of interest):  What are your career plans after graduation?

2.  Review application information provided by BIS advisor and on University College website. If you’re still interested in applying for the program set up an appointment to review application process. Appointments only, please – no walk-ins. This will ensure that we can prepare for you and have ample time to answer all questions.

3.  During your meeting you will complete a draft of template before meeting with BIS advisor for review.

In your BIS consultation with your academic advisor you will receive an application page, template (if needed), and the contact information for your faculty advisor. Once your application is completed and turned in, it will be reviewed by the B.I.S. Director and Advisory for approval or if the template needs to be revised.

Your academic advisor will review the application process, eligibility requirements, and the general overview of your intended concentration.

You must have your faculty advisor's signature on your application/template before turning it into Patterson Hall 147 - all applications will be turned in to this office regardless of credit hours.

No appointment necessary to turn in paperwork to Patterson Hall 147.

You will receive an email from the Dean of University College and the Director of the Office of Interdisciplinary Studies within a few days after you've submitted your application. This email will either contain your welcome letter and approved application or proposed revisions you will need to complete to have your template reevaluated.

4.  Follow your template and review your academic evaluation regularly-meet with your advisor as necessary.

Your template will be applied towards your academic evaluation so that you may review your needed coursework at any time.

Please follow it closely and note that if you need to make substitutions you will need to follow up with your faculty advisor.
