Welcome to the Alabama State University Office of Assessment for the College of Education. The Office of Assessment strives to support the College of Educations core mission to prepare teachers, instructional support personnel, and other professionals to be decision makers who are equipped with the knowledge, skills and dispositions necessary to ethically and effectively integrate theory and practice in carrying out their professions.

Mission and Goals

The Office of Assessment is committed to enhancing the assessment processes that improve student learning through the facilitation of planned, meaningful, and ongoing assessments.

The Office of Assessment goals are to:

  • consult with and provide support to the Dean and Associate Deans, and faculty in the College of Education to implementing effective program-level assessments plans
  • collect, analyze and interpret assessment data for continuous improvement of the College of Education
  • serve as a general resource on assessment issues
  • communicate assessment activities to the college community
  • keep abreast of best-practices in learning outcomes assessment
  • investigate technological resources to facilitate efficient assessment efforts
  • help ensure that accreditation requirements related to assessment with SACS, NCATE, and other accrediting bodies are met
