Network LogoThe Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in the College of Business Administration at Alabama State University provides technical andmanagement assistance to small businesses and prospective business owners. As an institutional member of the Alabama Small Business Development Center Network, the ASU SBDC is one of twelve University-based business assistance sources located throughout the state.

The SBDC is committed to providing quality service, technology transfer, training and other services useful in the business person’s daily decision making processes. Responsible for a five-county area in Central Alabama, the SBDC provides on-campus and on-client site free one-one-one counseling and training workshops in smaller towns, as well as larger urban areas. The SBDC staff and consultants are available to provide customized training programs and speakers for professional associations, civic organizations and educational facilities. SBDC training programs include:

  •    Small Business Tax Workshops (State and Federal taxes)
  •    Pre-Business Workshops for Veterans
  •    General Business Training Workshops
  •    Basics of Procurement
  •    Women In Business Networking
  •    Central Alabama Procurement Conference

The ASU Small Business Development Center provides small business counseling service to Autauga, Bullock, Chambers, Coosa, Elmore, Lowndes, Montgomery and Tallapoosa counties. Our business consultants provide “one-on-one” assistance and guidance, at no cost, for new business start-up and expanding existing businesses. We can help your small business in the areas of:
