Student Media Employment Opportunities

There’s no better way to get prepared for your career in media than to gain experience while still in school.  Student Media is always looking for sharp, hard-working students who want to learn more about producing publications and online media. Paid and volunteer student positions are available in advertising, reporting, photography, feature writing, page design, online, electronic production, business, marketing and related areas.

More than 25 students work in Student Media creating award-winning products, including The Hornet Tribune and the HORNET yearbook. Responsibilities and schedules for staff positions vary, as does the level of experience required. Many freshmen find wonderful ways to gain experience and explore their interests; with opportunities for advancement, students often stay in the department throughout their college "career."

Primary hiring times are in the late spring and late summer. Students seeking summer and fall positions are encouraged to apply by April 15; persons interested in spring semester positions should apply by November 18.

ASU Student Media employees offer a variety of experience in the daily workings of media production, from reporting and copy editing, to design, photography, advertising, online and more.

Student Media at ASU offers many opportunities for students interested in writing, editing, photography, cartooning, production, graphics and design, broadcasting, web development, advertising and marketing.  And you don’t have to be a journalism major to apply!

We offer competitive wages (after one semester), flexible schedules, and a fun, collaborative working environment.

Following is a list of some of the jobs that are available. We take applications all year round. You can apply by downloading an application form in your area of interest, filling it out and submitting it to us via e-mail, in person or by mail.
