MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN 

Welcome to the web site of the School of Graduate Studies at Alabama State University!! We are a regional comprehensive, historically black, and state-supported University. Graduate education is an integral part of the academic landscape at Alabama State University. I am confident that you will find your next degree among the three doctorates, and the more than eighteen master’s degree programs offered in the School of Graduate Studies.  For example, you may pursue the Doctorate of Education (Ed.D) in Educational Leadership, Policy and Law,  Doctorate in Physical Therapy (D.PT),  and Doctorate in Microbiology (Ph.D.).   Alabama State University awards also the education specialist and master’s degree in such fields as instructional leadership, biology and biology education, general counseling, rehabilitation counseling, history, mathematics, social sciences, and early childhood education.   Finally, students have the opportunity to pursue also an array of alternative and certificate programs in various fields of education.

As a graduate student at Alabama State University, you will have numerous opportunities to advance your scholarly growth, enhance your career and leadership skills, and utilize your enormous talent and skills.  I encourage you to peruse the School of Graduate Studies’ web site for information concerning the application process, admissions criteria, tuition and fees.

By the way, we are located in Montgomery, AL, the State’s capital, a thriving city of over 250,000 occupants.  The Alabama State University campus is located only a short walk from the state government complex and downtown Montgomery.
