Welcome to the homepage of the Department of Communications at Alabama State University.

Building upon a broad liberal arts core curriculum, the Department of Communications at ASU offers curricula designed to provide students with an understanding of communication models and theories, skills for effective communication, and the ability to apply modern information technologies for various modes of communication. The primary purpose of the department is to prepare students for graduate and professional study in Communication and related fields and for career opportunities in the media industries and in governmental, educational, business and other organizations.

The Department of Communications at ASU offers the following six specializations:

Print Journalism

Communications Studies

Public Relations

Radio and Television

Each area is taught by experienced faculty and staff whose goal is to assist our students in becoming successful future broadcasters and media professionals.
